How to Find Adventure Even During Coronavirus

Since the COVID-19 hit the world in spring 2020, we have had to suppress our craving for adventure and travel as we battle against the virus. While we put our desires for both domestic and international travel on pause, now may be the perfect time to take stock of the adventures that can be found right on our doorstep.

This article will explore a few ways we can bring out our adventurous streak in these strange times.

  • Reminisce about past adventures.
  • Find adventure in your area.
  • Plan for future adventures.

Reminisce about Past Adventures

Take the opportunity to document some of your favorite adventures while they are still fresh in your mind. Put pen to paper and relive some of your fondest memories and adventures. Who were you with? Where did you go? Your future self will be delighted you took the time out to record these important life momentsReminiscing about your favorite adventures with your loved ones is a sure-fire way to bring back a sense of excitement!

Find Adventure in Your Area

Just because we need to temporarily restrict our movements, it does not mean we need to rule out adventure! There are plenty of ways to seek excitement locally. Let’s explore some ways to find excitement locally. And remember, not all adventures need to be climbing Mount Everest!

Get Lost in your Area

Why not take this opportunity to discover your own area. What’s down that street you always pass by but have never gone down? Why not wander these areas of town and get to know your own back yard? Bring a book, or your favorite Nottai journal, and grab a coffee on the other side of town.

Teach your Family about Local History

What happened in times gone past in your town, city or state? Teach your kids about the important moments of your local history. Great ways to do this are to go to the museums you have nearby, see important monuments in your state, and there may even be some tours you could join in on.

Talk to people in your Area (from a distance)

Your neighbors don’t have to be just the people who live on your street. Talk to other people who live in your locality (even if we need to do so from a distance). Getting to know others in your area is associated with having a stronger sense of community, which is one of the factors the World Happiness Report determines as key to our own happiness.

Local Amenities

There are certainly many amenities in your area that you don’t know they exist or aren’t using to their full potential. Now is a great time to explore local parks and playgrounds and make the most of the clean, fresh air.

Your Home

If you haven’t done so already, now is a great time to prepare your house for winter. And what about those DIY projects you have had on the backburner for months, or even years? Check those tasks off your to-do list and your future self will thank you for it.

Road Trip

The words ‘road trip’ are undoubtedly two of the most thrilling words in the English. Synonymous with freedom and possibilities, road trips are a great way for us to bond with our loved and explore our country.

Why not work out the answers to some of these questions for your state?

  • Where’s the best coffee in your state?
  • What’s your favorite quaint town?
  • Which diner has the best breakfast?
  • Which is the best free museum?

For more inspiration on what you can do in a given city or state, check out their websites and you should find some attractions or activities to pique your interest.

    Nature

Embrace the environment around you and enjoy its health benefits. Being in nature has a tremendous way of helping us de-stress. Go see the mountains, rivers, and wildlife you have around you. Try a new activity such as orienteering, hill walking, skiing, sledding, stargazing, or bird watching. Taking this time out to do things outside of your routine will ensure this is a memorable time in your life.

    Photography

While out on these adventures, why not photograph your experiences. No one has ever complained of having too many photos of their friends and family.

    Document this Time

We are currently living a once-in-a-lifetime event (we hope). Make some great memories during this time, and document them in your travel journal. You’ll be able to tell your grandkids all the exciting adventures you had during the Coronavirus epidemic; rather than just tell them you spent the time just watching Netflix. Be proactive and make the most of this time.

    Plan for Future Adventures

The Coronavirus won’t be with us forever, so get your creative juices flowing and plan for your next big adventure. Having a positive experience lined up in your calendar is a great way to give you something to look forward to and can help a more positive outlook.

Another exercise you could do is one of limitless imagination. If you had no budget or time constraints, where would you go? What would you do? And who would you go with?

    To Sum Up

We believe it's more important who you are do it with than what are doing. Spending some time in the playground with your kids and getting some takeaway food after may be just the adventure they need. While times are very different than how they were a year ago, that doesn’t mean adventure and excitement still cannot be had. Our advice is to take advantage of this time and do something you wouldn’t normally do. Make this time memorable.
